Why Google Mail (GMail) is Number One?

gmail storyMy first ever email account created was with one of those email providers which gives you flexibility in selecting a unique domain. Something like; iheartyou.com and etc. Come to think of it, I can not remember my last email provider anymore.

Nonetheless, even at that time I actually had more than 1 email account. I signed up with Hotmail because I couldn’t get a Rocketmail account and then I signed up with Yahoo! mail. Later down the road, I found out about Gmail as a friend invited me to use their service. And today, Google Mail or Gmail for short is my number one choice as an email provider. However, here’s why I consider Google Mail the number one player of email providers.

TMNet Disables Port 25 to Block Email Spam

Besides using port 25 or 26, TMNet now is configuring port 587. Details are at the end of the post.

email filter*munches potato chips* You may or may not be aware of this. But TMNet Malaysia just officially announced they’re now blocking port 25 for sending emails to block email spam. If you’re wondering what’s the big deal, why other bloggers are cursing, or why it’s anything unlike TMNet is losing customers or money.

Well, if you’re a blogger with your own domain name and are (most likely) using TMNet Streamyx as your Malaysia Internet Service Provider (ISP) then you’re going to have problems sending out email using your personal address like name@domain.com. Relatively, all emails sent via the Internet is routed through Port 25.

Apple iPhone Price in Malaysia Increases

Apple iPhone priceWhen Apple restricted their iPhone purchasing limit many consumers over here in Malaysia didn’t think how this’ll affect the prices. They may have believed; “no need to worry-la, we sure can get stock wan.” Needless to say, the only stock getting whilst avoiding the recent Apple iPhone in Malaysia price increase is if you bought directly from the United States.

Recent news I’ve heard is the supply is scarce and the demand is still at an all time high. Apple iPhone resellers in Malaysia are jacking up their prices because their suppliers are demanding higher prices. A friend told me that Hong Kong now are selling the anySim (or other open-source unlocked) Apple iPhones at RM2500+.
