Simple Blog Update

Well, we’ve got 2 projects drawing to a close and they’ve been really spectacular ones to handle. I’m truly sorry for the lack of updates but I’m having a little bit of writers block, not to mention the additional work clients might have in store for us.

The Hargrave Corporation website I admit isn’t the best of my design work but a designer can never be too happy for their work half the time. The company deals with a lot of heavy duty industrial pumps and working with them was definetely an added experience to our environment. Instead of a boring old corporate website, we introduced to them the idea in giving all their visitors a ‘pumped’ up education.

The funny thing about this project is that it’s crashing Internet Explorer in some way. It happens when your cache is empty and surf to every page before it finishes loading. We’ve tried asking in some forums but there still ain’t a reply. Here’s a screenshot of the weird error. You got any remedies?

Oh yeah, this only happens on this website and not on other clients like; arkitekainonali.com

We’re almost wrapping up the new corporate website for UNIPAC Engineering as well. It was quite a long duration to get this to happen but it was a lesson learnt to improve the business further. The great thing is that through the duration we’ve gotten to know one another really well and they’ve become one of our closer friends now.

Anyway, if you’ll excuse me I have a little more work to do for UNIPAC or the boss will be speed dialing my mobile soon. :P

Pricenoia Website Review

Now here’s a website that took a simple idea of Amazon’s affiliation and turned it into a brilliant simple website business idea. Pricenoia is like a search engine for anything found on Amazon and not just the main website but also the branches in Japan, United Kingdom, Germany and etc.

The website utilizes a very clean white layout with simple dashed lines to segment out its sections. This website is very informative driven and have a look at the cool things you’re getting when using its service.

Did You Attend Design School?

Hawk shared a blog entry by Andy Rutledge with me. Andy’s blog called Design View has got numerous entries regarding design and the one Hawk passed to me was definetely worth highlighting. :)

Andy created a small multiple choice quiz testing the knowledge of design fundamentals and certain involving elements in website design. I think everyone who claims they’re a website designer or have attended design school should take the Andy Rutledge Design Test for a spin.

Create Your Own BBC Homepage

Hawk recently passed me a link to Reboot bbc.co.uk. If you do not know what does ‘reboot’ mean it’s the new term of the 21st Century to replace the words revamp, reinvent, reinvigorate and etc. Now that you’ve got the meaning, probably you can tell that BBC UK is planning to reinvent their entire website. Yup, they’re trying something that no other large news website is doing.

They’re allowing anyone to come up with an idea and submit it to them by May 25th. It’s definetely not a lengthy time to prepare and produce right now but as designers, we have to try and make do with whatever time could be given to us.

So to all Malaysian website designers, if you’ve the time then just read the brief and design on. If having your idea or design implemented later isn’t enough, there are some other prizes and a visit to the BBC office. ;)

p/s: Remember to read the small print of the competition.
