AirAsia Appointed TMS

Or known as The Media Shoppe which their website you could visit, HERE are now AirAsia’s website portal solution provider. According to the TMS website, they’re a local software vendor company with quite a drive for CMS. I quote from InTech today of the future expectation TMS is about to offer us consumers;

TMS will revamp AirAsia’s portal to enable the airline to further enhance its customers’ online experience.

After reading that line, I’m so going to review the website once the overhaul is done. I’ve used the website a couple of times lately for booking tickets and I must say on a scale of 1-10, I’m only giving their current website a 3 or 4. Other than their aggressive advertising, their website doesn’t handle the satisfaction that should be given to enhance its customers’ experience.

But now with TMS heading the project, I’m awaiting to see what could be chiseled out from a starting block again. Hopefully they’ll analyze and maybe even interview some users before going ahead with the project. Then their final result would be such as ‘The Thinker’ masterpiece and probably even put MAS website to shame. ;)

Bring it on, TMS!

MT Join Fight of Dreaded 500

Somewhere the beginning of this month, MovableType was being havoc-ed by a dreaded 500 error. Plagued by the Internal Server Error, I straight away emailed my awesome host support whom also is a friend of mine. :) We were banging our heads against the monitor trying to spot the problem if it was MT or the server.

Keeping our cool and not pointing fingers, we calmly tried solving the problem. I took steps in disabling the blog awhile and informed visitors of the downtime. Quickly tweaking the MT default layout and only having the shoutbox for communication. Yes, I finally found the other good thing of the shoutbox. :D

Later then the MT support forums were flocking with more people having same agendas. Quite a bad run for MT since they’re about the release the official 3.2 version. But with potential developers at hand, I think this problem would be solved soon..I hope. The current problem reported is having to do with MT and cPanel.

In the meantime, don’t be surprised if I moved to WordPress awhile till version 3.2 is out. I wanna take it for a test run and see if it’s difference would benefit me for future usage. :)

Cheers.

Good ol Computimes

While reading the NST yesterday, I stopped short at the Computimes section. The place where I get most of the news on technology and what’s cooking with it in Malaysia. Not much of the articles were of interest till somewhere at the end. I can’t recall the full article and the paper has gone missing all of a sudden.

Anyway, the writer ended his article about keys to developing a website by suggesting readers to hire a professional. Yes, I’m promoting the fact that the media is suggesting people to hire a professional. I’m not being egoistic but honest because many clients haven’t realized the potential professionals bring to their website.

If you follow the posts I put up now and then, I sometimes go about analyzing websites on their design and usability. Actually, maybe I should start something like a send in your local website for free analyzation and solutions providing. :P

Web Designer Weaknesses

I know I’m suppose to be talking about web designer risks but this does cover that at the same time. How many of you have ever hired a freelance web designer? How many of you have hired me as a freelance designer? Ignore the last question, I ain’t one of those in demand people anyway. So did most of you approach a company or a normal friend good in graphics to revamp your website?

Custom Templates vs Template Providers

I’m very sure all of you know what are templates or sometimes refer to as skins or the normal term; design. With that said, how many of you have seen websites with the same design used? Plagiarism or copycat? Well, though that might be true but some are free or commercial templates sold by template providers. One of the more known providers is TemplateMonster.

Housing more than a thousand templates selling at an average price and a unique price. Difference?
