Happy Birthday Mummyfoo!

Though you aren’t home to celebrate your birthday, I’m very sure all of us are constantly thinking of you. It might not seem like it at times, but I might be the worrywart of the family when you might not be home. :) Anyway, you’ve taught me through life along with Daddyfoo and I don’t know how I’ll be able to repay the favors done.

Lots of love from Melbourne and hope you’d have a great birthday no matter if we’re not there with you. :) Happy Birthday Mummy!

Blog Networks

Are appearing around the Internet quite fast. The ones I’ve come by so far are 9rules, Weblog Empire and the latest; Indie Blog Network. Now, all of them are respectable in their own manner of handling the network and planning on garnering traffic.

What does a network site do?
Well, they don’t hook you up like Friendster but they help you generate traffic by kinda advertising your weblog in a way. So you might think they’d lose all their time and energy by creating something like this? They don’t actually because as a responsible blogger, you’d at least have the courtesy to link back to them from your website. :)

To put it in less words, the main benefits gain from being on a network can be illustrated like this:

Your weblog + Network =

Your weblog + Traffic + Money + Opporunities

And before you think Malaysia doesn’t have such a thing, think again. We actually never realized it hidden beneath our noses. :) The PPS or Project Petaling Street website is actually our local blog network. Though it works in a different manner because it uses pings, it’s concept remains the same as what other networks are trying to do.

So if you desire more traffic to your weblog, find out more about those networks above. :)

Careless Clicking

Could aid in generating revenue on some websites. I found this out after visiting one of my regular websites for some online reading. I’ve heard of the hosts name before but was just curious how they’re doing and their prices. Guess what I stumbled upon while being there, there’s a referral reward scheme going on.

Ahh, so I was conned behind my back. How nice? Anyway, the link I clicked to was DreamHost. They’re currently having an aggrssive promotion going on and additional to that, they’ve got a referral pyramid called the DreamHost Rewards. If you’d like to find out more, read HERE. Oh yeah, you don’t have to be on the host to be a referral.

That aside, I believe in circumstances like these if you were to put such a link to your blog without notifying people that it gains revenue, you’re being really dishonest. You can’t say the same for Google because you know they’re ads. They call it Ads by Google, for crying out loud.

So please be a little more transparent on such revenue generating schemes than assume people won’t click if they found out it helps your website generate revenue. Adsense would’ve collapsed if everyone was like that.

Oh yeah, another thing about some authors using AdSense. They’ve done so well on the layout colours that it’s hidden in their post. Unknowingly, you might end up some times clicking it. Ah hah! Another ploy discovered for you readers.

Anyway, just watch your fast person clicking and don’t kill the mouse. :)

MSN Creative Awards 2005

Are calling for submissions by the end of this month. The sad part..

Any company employed in the creation of online advertising in the United States can enter.

They never mentioned if international companies or designers are allowed to submit their past work. Sigh, such a pity as I believe there are many great works done by freelancers for big companies. Not to mention too, some of them might be from Malaysia. Oh well..

Anyway, there are 4 competing categories; Branding, Direct Response, Rich Media, and Video. There are also samples provided to what each categories work should show. Also, you can check out the past winners and I agree HPs ad deserved the Best In Show award. :D

Proceed HERE to find out more of the contest.

Copyscape

Is a website that has been developed for plagiarism searching. I, myself couldn’t believe it till I went there. I don’t really understand how do they scan the Internet after entering your URL but it’s quite a nifty toy to plan online if you’re bored. :P

Try it out, HERE.
